Ottawa, ONTARIO, February 8, 2022: After a two-year hiatus, CPCA is pleased to announce that the 108th Annual Conference and AGM will be held at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in historic Québec City, May 25-26, 2022.
The theme of this year’s conference is “SPARK — Coatings Change & Innovation.” In an industry where regulation is often the active precursor to many business decisions, paint and coatings organizations continue to drive innovation as agents of change for their customers. Research and innovation continue to push the envelope of coatings science, supporting the product performance demanded by customers and a more sustainable environment. The plenary session will delve into the state of the coatings industry today, exploring technological advances and what they mean for business. Coatings professionals will also explore how various industry challenges, including increasing regulations have been catalysts for innovation and change. It will consider how the paint and coatings industry leans into regulatory shifts — and other challenges — with more R&D for innovative product formulation.
“CPCA member companies are committed to sustainability, spending hundreds of millions annually on improving product stewardship, product performance, and sustainability to meet evolving consumer demands,” commented Gary LeRoux, CPCA’s President, and CEO. Speakers will also focus on emerging changes expected in the coming years as the world combats climate change, enhances supply chain resiliency, and and sustainable products.
Keynote speaker this year is Dan Bresnitz, a professor at the University of Toronto, co-director of the Innovation Policy Lab, the Munk Chair of Innovation at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and author of “Innovation in Real Places”. He has published several books on innovation and prosperity and has a unique and realistic perspective on what Canada must do to leverage its many investments in innovation in order to be among the top countries on innovation in the world.
In keeping with tradition, CPCA will recognize several individuals for their contributions to the Canadian coatings industry. “CPCA has a legacy of recognizing excellence and honouring innovation through its annual Awards Program for members who have led the way in business and coatings innovation over many years and there are no shortage of candidates.” These outstanding individuals will be recognized at the annual Chair Awards Dinner at the stately Fairmont Le Château Frontenac followed by entertainment from La Famille Painchaud who will spark the audience with their musical talents.
