Shaping the future: the case industry must act now!

The CASE industry in Canada has been a stable and growing industry since 1913. The conference will explore why this stability is now being challenged and how industry might address it.

The industry has always been focused on health & safety in the workplace while providing strong, functional products for companies representing 70% of Canada’s GDP. The industry does so by investing in innovation to deliver quality, efficiency and valuable life-cycle solutions for many companies.  More recently the industry fully embraced ESG approaches that includes sourcing more sustainably sourced materials than ever before. However, biobased materials still represent only 10% of all raw materials. Industry needs more time to innovate to bring more sustainable solutions to market and deliver functional value-added products. Government policy must be fair and science-based. Both will help sustain Canada’s productivity and provide good manufacturing jobs for Canadians.

This year’s Annual Conference will consider the significant impacts of recently proposed federal Government regulations for:

  • 1800 chemicals in commerce over the next several years with a third in the CASE industry
  • 4,700 PFAS chemicals with more to come
  • Plastics and microplastics used widely in the CASE industry
  • Lower VOC limits for 49 Architectural categories and new limits for Industrial and Auto Refinishing
  • Supply chain challenges impacting raw materials and related costs
  • Critical biocide preservatives used to preserve water-based products especially

The conference will also engage all participants on developing a strong ‘all of industry’ advocacy approach for a stable CASE industry in Canada to prevent the loss of manufacturing jobs.

Let’s talk!
