As part of on-going work to reduce VOC emission and improve the effectiveness of the Regulations, ECCC would like to identify potential additional emission reductions that could be achieved and evaluate the costs associated with such potential changes.

As previously announced by CPCA, please find attached the final questionnaire (in Microsoft Excel, in Both French and English) in support of Cheminfo’s study for Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) on the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content of architectural coatings supplied to the Canadian market in 2018.

You will note that the present questionnaire includes 10 more product categories in addition to the 53 Architectural and Industrial Maintenance product categories that are presently regulated under Canada’s Architectural VOC Regulations.

You will also note that ECCC is also seeking information on the VOC content of colourants (for architectural coatings) that were supplied to the Canadian market in 2018. ECCC realizes that this information has not normally been sought by other regulatory agencies in the U.S. or Canada. If you have readily available information on the colourants you supplied to the Canadian market in 2018, it would be appreciated if you could provide that information in the attached questionnaire. If this information is not readily available, then please focus your efforts on the data requested for architectural coatings.

The due date for responses to the questionnaire is Friday, September 20, 2019 and completed questionnaires should be forwarded directly to Cheminfo Services.

If you have any questions with respect to this study or how to complete the questionnaire, do not hesitate to contact Cheminfo Services (coordinates are contained in the attached questionnaire).
