Adding Value to Canada’s Economy

The Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomer (CASE) industry provides essential products for the world. In Canada it provides essential inputs for manufacturing industries comprising more than 70% of Canada’s GDP.

Without these inputs many industry sectors would be challenged such as aerospace, automotive, construction, shipbuilding, oil and gas, design and many more. Increasingly these products are more innovative, more sustainable and still meet the highest standards Canadian manufacturers and their customers demand. 

This year the Coatings Conference will look at the ways in which the coatings industry delivers essential coatings. These include coatings for solar panels, essential packaging of every kind, anti-microbial and air purifying solutions, self-healing and urban-cooling products and corrosion resistant coatings, which costs the world over $1.5 trillion annually.  The coatings industry drives sustainability. So much more is being done with essential coatings, which extends the lifecycle of products used daily by every Canadian.

While delivering many critical benefits to multiple manufacturing sectors, the coatings industry has led the world in post-consumer paint recycling. It has reduced low-level VOC emissions from architectural paint by more than 96% (44,000 tonnes), the equivalent of more than 350,000 average size vehicles taken of the road.

While significantly contributing to Canada’s GDP the coatings industry continues to provide Governments with the critical scientific data needed to properly regulate chemicals used in coatings products of every kind.
