EMCO-Inortech — Where Quality, Chemistry and Technology Meet

EMCO Inortech

Proud Supporter & Platinum Sponsor of CPCA

EMCO- Inortech is a Canadian specialty chemical distributor and provider of formulation and application support. Founded in 1990 by the previous owner, Jean-Marc Pigeon, Inortech, which focused on the CASE, ink and plastic markets, became the leading specialty chemical distributor in North America with its highly skilled technical sales force, outstanding R&D capabilities and a history of strong relationships.  This includes formulators in their $2 million application lab in Terrebonne, QC. This impressive capacity provides the Canadian market with an exceptional customer service experience with warehousing facilities throughout Canada.

In 1967 Edward Polen made the decision to leave Boston to take on the role of pharmacist at Walgreens in Chicago, IL. Later that year he transitioned into a sales role with Big Ben Chemicals and Solvents in Chicago and in 1971,  after Big Ben was acquired by Ashland Oil, he started E-M Co., filling chemical orders out of the garage of his home. Later that year he moved to a small facility in the northern suburbs of Chicago (North Chicago, IL). In 1986 E-M Co. changed its name to EMCO Chemical Distributors, Inc.  Over the next 50 years EMCO expanded to 1.5 million in warehouse space by purchasing additional facilities in North Chicago, the St. Louis area (2008), Elkhart, IN, (2011) and  Pleasant Prairie, WI, corporate office, (2013). Also, in 2013 EMCO Chemical Distributors, Inc. entered the Canadian market as EMCO Chemical Distributors Canada, the exclusive distributor for Bayer isocyanates, later Covestro. In 2017, EMCO Chemical Distributors Canada acquired Inortech to become EMCO-Inortech. By acquiring Inortech would enable EMCO-Inortech greater opportunities to grow in the specialty chemical market with the new joined supplier base.

EMCO-Inortech is committed to the responsible distribution of chemicals and essential ingredients. EMCO-Inortech work with suppliers and customers to protect the environment, supporting their employees, and giving back to the community. EMCO-Inortech are committed to playing a constructive and collaborative role as a responsible environmental citizen in the life of the surrounding community. This includes dedication to a clean environment through innovative industrial technology.
